Drawing inspiration from the first generation of Broncos, these new colors are nostalgia-laced modern takes of original Bronco colors that were available in the mid-70s. A Blast from the Past

With a first-generation Bronco on display as Woodward Dream Cruise’s featured vehicle, Ford happily unveiled Eruption Green for the first time in front of a live audience. Ford used the original Bronco color, Mallard Green, as a base for Eruption Green and took off from there, creating a unique yet reminiscent color. A throwback to the mid-70s roots of the Ford Bronco, Eruption Green is sure to evoke that warm feeling of nostalgia in automotive and Bronco enthusiasts alike.

When asked about Eruption Green’s release, Ford’s colors and materials manager, Barb Whalen, had this to say “Automotive enthusiasts, and especially Bronco fans, are passionate about colors and will be excited about Eruption Green…Paint has a wonderful way of evolving because of technology. Eruption Green is a contemporary color, but there’s a connection with Bronco heritage. It’s evergreen-inspired, with yellow highlights that really tie it into nature.”

New In, Old Out

Another new wrinkle in the 2022 Bronco fold is the discontinuation of some paint options that were available with the 2021 Bronco originally. Along with their announcement of Eruption Green and Hot Pepper Red, Ford also announced that three colors will be leaving the Bronco lineup at the end of the 2021 model year.

Antimatter Blue, Lightning Blue Metallic, and Rapid Red Metallic will no longer be available on the upcoming 2022 Broncos, making room for Eruption Green and Hot Pepper Red. Despite being scheduled for discontinuation, these colors will still be available on all 2021 model year Broncos, so get to Charles Gabus Ford to secure your favorite colored Bronco before it’s gone.

Despite all the discontinuations, Ford will be allowing the 2021 color, Cyber Orange to stay a part of the Bronco lineup. Cyber Orange, a fairly popular color option that was restricted to top-trim level Black Diamond Broncos, will now be able to be had on all 2022 Broncos no matter the trim level. This change in availability is sure to please Bronco enthusiasts who may not have had a chance to scoop up a Cyber Orange Bronco in 2021.
