Coming This January: The F-150 Lightning Flash

The electric vehicle movement continues to gain momentum, and this winter, Ford is upping the game in a big way. A new model of Ford’s popular F-150 Lightning truck – named the F-150 Lightning Flash – is set to arrive in January of 2024. Hitting the market at under $70,000, the F-150 Lightning Flash improves upon the XLT model with an assortment of customer-recommended tech features, quality-of life additions, an expanded EPA-estimated range, and much more. 

A Tech-Forward Model 

The first thing that sticks out about the Lightning Flash is the sheer amount of tech loaded into it. Yet while it initially resembles an EV Batmobile more than your standard powertrain truck, the Lightning Flash remains remarkably accessible. It’s a product primarily created with the driver in mind. 

Take the inclusion of Ford BlueCruise, an advanced hands-free highway driving feature. The newest version, BlueCruise 1.2, includes Lane Change Assist, which allows for hands-free lane changing. It also includes In-Lane Repositioning, which automatically maintains the Lightning Flash’s healthy proximity from other vehicles while keeping it locked in its lane. The Lightning Flash also comes equipped with one of the most powerful extended range batteries on the EV market, with an EPA-estimated range of 320 miles. Gone are the days of needing a charge after 200 miles; Ford’s commitment to ever-evolving EV capabilities ensures that you’ll make the most of your time on the road post-charge. 

Tech-retary of the Interior 

The F-150 Lightning’s tech-forward approach carries over into the interior of the vehicle. Drivers will have at their disposal a bevy of amenities, including: 

• A 15.5-inch LCD Capacitive Touchscreen with Swipe Capability. 
• A B&O® Sound System with HD Radio™ that includes eight speakers and a subwoofer. 
• Push-Button Start, Approach Detection, & a SecuriCode® Keyless Entry Keypad. 
• A wireless charging pad. 

In addition, a heat pump helps ameliorate energy consumption. We’d call it a well-oiled machine – except in the case of this EV powerhouse, oil isn’t part of the equation. 

Charging Ahead 

Whether you’re planning to primarily charge the Lightning Flash at home or on the road, you won’t lack charging options. 

Ford EV drivers enjoy access to the BlueOval Charge Network, North America’s largest, ever-expanding public charging network. In addition, beginning in Spring 2024, Lightning drivers will also have access to over 12,000 Tesla Superchargers. 

If you choose to charge from home, the process is no different than charging any other of your devices. You can charge overnight via the Ford Charge Station Pro, or upgrade to 80 amps of power when you purchase the Ford Connected Charge Station.
