2018 Ford EcoSport

The all-new 2018 Ford EcoSport hits the market in the competitive subcompact SUV category, offering a long list of standard and available features to drivers in Des Moines, West Des Moines, and Ankeny. At Charles Gabus Ford, our focus is on helping you find a car you’ll love to drive for years to come.

We’ve put together this review, focusing on the EcoSport tech features, performance, and interior amenities, so you can be educated and make an informed decision about your next car. Read on to learn more about this all-new vehicle.

Tech Features

You’ll find Ford’s SYNC® technology standard on the 2018 EcoSport. Voice recognition technology helps you find a way, hands-free. The entertainment system features a 4.2-inch color LCD screen. Connect to music and entertainment while traveling, as standard Bluetooth® technology comes in handy when you want to pick a song from your phone or make a call.

Available technology includes the SYNC® 3 system, which features Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. Connect a compatible smartphone to the touchscreen, and use your phone’s map apps to navigate to any destination. Read text messages hands-free or choose your favorite song from a playlist.

The base engine on the EcoSport S comes with EcoBoost® technology and auto start-stop capability. When this feature is engaged, the car will turn off when your foot is on the brake pedal and the car has come to a full stop, for example, at a stop light. Since the engine turns off when this happens, you conserve gas while driving. When it’s time to get moving again, the engine will automatically start back up, so you can get on your way.

On higher trims, discover the 2.0-liter 166-horsepower engine, which offers a bit more power for daily driving and rides on the highway. The available intelligent four-wheel drive technology is worth considering as well, because it provides enhanced handling while on any surface. The base engine is efficient, checking in at an EPA-estimated 27 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway. Avoid the gas pump and use your money for other important things instead!

EcoSport Interior and Cargo Space

There’s plenty of interior space to stretch out and enjoy the ride, along with generous amounts of cargo space to store all your important items. When it comes to cargo volume, there’s 50 cu. ft. of space behind the front seats, with 20.9 cu. ft. available behind the rear seats. The rear door opens from a side-hinge set-up, which is a bit different than most vehicles in this class. It can make things more convenient when loading in cargo.

The front provides maximum legroom of 42.9 inches, enough room to stretch out for drives both long and short. Front headroom measures 39.6 inches, enough space for taller drivers. There’s also generous amounts of hip and shoulder room, so those in the backseat are comfortable.
